Zoos SA
Zoos SA is a non-government conservation charity, every visit, adoption, donation and ticket helps to save species from extinction.

Home to animals like Elephant, Lion, Zebra, Kudu and Leopard, the 345,000-hectare Sera Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya is a vital haven for the species who inhabit it.

Zoos South Australia proudly supports Sera Wildlife Conservancy and the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT), which the conservancy is a part of, as they work to protect wildlife from poaching and extinction.

The NRT is a community-led conservation initiative whose members depend largely on livestock for their livelihoods. The NRT is working to develop alternative incomes for these communities and an obvious choice is the stunning beadwork traditionally made and worn by the region’s women. The NRT has established a micro-loan credit system to enable the women to set up small businesses. They are working to train women in business skills and product development as well as providing access to adult literacy classes and health services.

How can you help?

By purchasing a stunning piece of BeadWORKS jewellery, you’re not only helping to safeguard iconic African animals but are also supporting the livelihood and empowerment of the skilled women and communities who make each piece by hand.
